What is BBP?

BBP is a formula discovered in 1995 by Simon Plouffe. The formula is named after David H. Bailey, Peter Borwein, and Simon Plouffe. More on Wikipedia »

The BBP algorithm is very powerful because it let you calculate the nth pi digit without the need to store the previous n-1th digits. In this website is avaiable three141, a ruby porting of the bbp algorithm.

Akira Haraguchi

This post is totally dedicated to my new shiny hero: Akira Haraguchi who had set the current world record in memorizing and reciting digits of Pi. Between October the 3rd and October the 4th he repetead the first 100,000 Pi digits in a 16 hours marathon with just a 5-minutes break every two hours for eating onigiri rice balls.
