What is BBP?

The BBP algorithm is very powerful because it let you calculate the nth pi digit without the need to store the previous n-1th digits. In this website is avaiable three141, a ruby porting of the bbp algorithm.

Rhind, the egyptians and Pi

In this wikipedia article is explained that the Rhind Papyrus is one of the best examples of Egyptian mathematics. Reading the article I found a simply method to calculate the area of a circle by approximation to a square. Using this method with a circle of 9 unit the pi value obtained is 3.16 .. a really good approximation !
